Textile Taster:  Making faux leather using brown paper

Julianne and Chris will present the activity: we will be making faux (fake) leather using brown paper. This could be used as a booklet cover or a journal page or however you wish.

 Members are asked to bring:-
*A couple of sheets of brown paper about A4 size. Packing paper is good or brown paper bag such as the supermarket provides for groceries.
*Hair drier.
*Colourant…something such as tea or coffee mixed with water, in a sealed jar, OR  watered down brown acrylic paint to give the paper the colour of brown leather.
*a brush or sponge to apply colour to paper
*brown ink stamp pad if you have one. Share with others if you don’t. Brown shoe polish could be used instead. The ink or polish is applied when paper is dry and the last coating is cheap hand cream or hair conditioner which will be provided.
