Queensland’s new Challenge:
Hoops!
In ATASDA's 50th anniversary year, we are re-visiting a past National display from 2014 and re-imagining it with a new lease of life.
In 2014 the colour theme was greyscale and fabrics needed to be sheer or light-weight because they were being hung in a heritage building, but this time we want colour! Each person is to work in a monochromatic colour range, e.g. if you choose "green" your colours could include lime green, emerald green, blue-green, and everything in between or just the tints and shades of a single green hue. Hopefully when they are displayed together we will have every colour of the spectrum to create a colourful assemblage.
Purchase or recycle a wooden circular embroidery hoop of any size, and create your magic within it, using your own choice of textiles and techniques (embroidery, weaving, beading, crochet, knitting, patchwork, applique, needle tatting, dyeing, slow stitching, plaiting, paper art, etc).
Hoops are to be brought to September meetings in either Brisbane or Redland.
We will tie or stitch the hoops together, and display them as an installation, possibly at the Craft Fair in October.
