NSW Workshop
Join Sylvia Riley in this 2 day workshop to delve into natural dyeing.
Beginning the process with cloth preparation and mordanting of cellulosic and protein fibres. Then explore direct contact printing with leaves, create dye baths with locally sourced dye matter and explore colour alternatives using resist dye techniques and post mordanting.
At the end of the 2 days, you will have a range of samples which you can use for further embellishment of projects or as a reference for future dye exploration.

In this two day workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work in a journal that they have quickly made while developing their own textile art idea, possibly for an upcoming exhibition.
Why work in a textile art journal?Not only is it a place to store information but it also an opportunity for creative expression and can even become an art work in itself. It can contain research, sketching, sampling, glueing, painting, the list goes on. The journals can also be a repository for memories and a place to record thoughts and ideas.
