Textile Taster: Making Beads
There will be three creative tables where you will have the opportunity to make three different styles of beads. Fabric, paper and paper clay. Led by Tricia Smout, Jillian Beardsworth and Kathryn Iliff.
Beads can be used in necklaces, trims and edges, embellishments, wrap endings as tassels or many other ideas.
1. Fabric: Make chunky fabric beads from scrap fabric, decorating with threads, smaller seed beads and paint.
What to bring:
- Scraps of fabric if you want to make beads in the same colour way. 2.2 cms width and any length
- Embroidery thread if you want to coordinate with your fabric
- Fabric scissors, needles, small embroidery scissors
- A Straw, plastic coated or metal
- Container to take your beads home in
- Small container or Styrofoam/plastic dish to put paint on to mix colours
- Small paint brush
Kathryn will provide
- Glue
- Fabric paints
- Fabric scraps
- Embroidery threads
2. Paper Clay
Jillian will provide materials required
